NCS 2026 is a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition.
The Online Qualifier follows a Jeopardy-style format, where participants solve independent cybersecurity challenges and submit flags through the official competition platform.
The competition covers areas including:
Web Security • Cryptography • Digital Forensics • OSINT • Reverse Engineering • Binary Exploitation • Network Security • Mobile Security • Cloud & Container Security • Miscellaneous
The highest-performing Top 10 teams from the qualifier advance to the Physical Round, where the competition continues in a hands-on King of the Hill format.

No.
Nepal Cyber Shield is a Capture The Flag (CTF) competition, not a traditional hackathon.
The qualifier follows a Jeopardy-style CTF format, where participants solve independent cybersecurity challenges and submit flags through the official competition platform.
Can I participate if I am new to cybersecurity?
Absolutely.
You do not need to be an expert to start learning through CTFs.
Challenges can expose participants to areas such as Web Security, OSINT, Digital Forensics, Cryptography, Network Security, Reverse Engineering, and more.
The goal is not only to compete it’s also to learn, experiment, and improve.
Can I participate as an individual?
Yes. The competition rules allow participation as an individual or as part of a registered team, subject to the official registration requirements.

What happens after the Online Qualifier?
The Top 10 teams from the Online Qualifier advance to the Physical Round.
The Physical Round follows a hands-on King of the Hill format.
What happens if someone breaks the rules?
Violations can result in penalties including warnings, point removal, score resets, suspension, challenge removal, disqualification, or other actions depending on the severity of the violation.
Serious violations may result in immediate disqualification.
